Afternoon Workshop

For CoLab 2019 we will extend our Members Day to include an afternoon workshop run by James Murray-Parkes. You will be able to register for this workshop as a separate session and at no extra charge.

Innovative thinking is crucial to the continuing success of any industry. Rather than being pre-emptive and just thinking "outside of the box", why not go to the point of induction, and reverse engineer how this "box" is constructed? What issues does this box have? How can it be improved?

By using this approach, areas that need improvement/development will be identified and as a byproduct, innovative game-changing ideas and solutions will start to appear and evolve. This workshop will demonstrate Brookfield Scientific Solutions Group's (BSSG) approach to innovative thinking as well as unveil a byproduct of this approach, BohrHaus, which was conceived as a lightweight, cost-effective, environmentally sustainable and modular solution for rapid construction of new buildings anywhere in the world.

  • How to encourage "outside of the box" thinking
  • The process of calculating, quantifying and proving an innovation
  • How to legally protect intellectual property and effectively communicate an innovative design idea
